What with Easter and Mothers day behind us and winter here. We thought it time to go to Tasmania and visit with our Uncle John and Aunty Deni . Catching up with Naomi, Richard, Nathan, Ashley and Zac .
Being quiet in the winter means we are able to get away for awhile. Our choice of getting to Tassie is by The Spirit of Tasmania.
Our 2nd trip on The Spirit of Tasmania we decided to get a recliner. That was from Melbourne to Devonport. On the way back, Devonport to Melbourne, we upgraded from a recliner to a cabin. Why? The recliners are noisy with people talking and very uncomfortable. If you want to stay up all night, go for it! If you want to sleep, a cabin is a much better option. This trip would be our 4th trip to Tassie by The Spirit of Tasmania.

We have also flown into Hobart and Launceston. We have found when you fly you still need to get around, so a car needs to be hired. Whereas, getting The Spirit of Tasmania you can take your car and that means you have transport to get around. It also means you are not restricted to weight, like you are on a plane.
You leave Melbourne dock at 7.30pm and arrive at Devonport 6am. Which means you travel while you sleep. Someone makes an announcement on loud speaker to waken you. A meal can be purchased on board, whether that is for tea on departing or breakfast before arrival.
You can also purchase tea right near where you drive onto the dock for boarding. There are two bars and 2 restaurants on board. You can also go and see 2 movies for free. 1 movie is shown at 8pm and the other at 10pm. Posters of what movies are playing are outside the cinema.
There is lots of seating dotted about the boat. Televisions are also dotted, funnily enough around the seating areas. A shop is located near the cinema area for you to purchase munchies for the movie or souvenirs.
Our trip across was smooth. When lying down you could not feel the boat moving. When you got up and started walking it was another matter. You could feel it moving.
One of the restaurants on board is open for breakfast or there are a number of places open for breakfast when leaving the boat around Devonport.
First stop being Evandale. We decided to go to Evandale market on Sunday. What a great place. Go to it if you are in Evandale on a Sunday.

While wandering around we passed a stall selling any number of things, moving on we looked down and noticed something hanging on to our bag. Arthur had jumped onto it, he decided he did not want to stay in Tasmania anymore. He thought that coming to South Australia and Bush Haven Cottages he would make more friends. He and his friends could get up to all sorts of things. ( We hope he behaves himself). Watch out for more adventures of Arthur.
See you soon. Tim and Pam.
